Step into the rich past of Nevada County with an intimate evening at Friar Tuck’s. This installment of our Historical Series brings together two beloved local historians who know the stories of our town like no one else.

🎭 Featured Speakers

Jerry Martini

Born in Grass Valley, Jerry has roots running deep in our mining history. A docent at Empire Mine and active with the North Star House history group, Jerry brings Nevada County’s stories to life with passion and authenticity. At this event, he will share tales of local theater and performers that once lit up our community.

Chuck Scimeca

A longtime Nevada County resident and retired State Park Ranger, Chuck has spent over 30 years teaching California history. He’s authored Over the Henness Pass, Road Barons & Risk Takers, uncovering the bold roads and lives of the 1860s–70s. Today, he serves as a Historical Landmarks Commissioner and will guide us through the landmarks of Nevada County, including historic theaters and the Commission’s vision for future monuments.
